Today was a good day. Dane made the cut
getting 5th in the prelims for junior boys, while Emily took
first place in the junior women and is now on the US Team
for her second time out of two attempts! I paddled today as
well. I will start off by saying that I flushed out of the
wave three times out of three rides, that is a very bad thing,
and it was giving me the willies. However, when all was said
and done, I came in second place behind another Rock Island
local, Chris Stafford (member of the US Team in 2003).
The prelims results for the top 21 who
qualify for the quarter-finals in Men’s kayak:
Chris Stafford- 886.125
Eric Jackson- 870.875
Dustin Urban- 816.5
Jay Kincaid- 816.375
Bryan Kirk- 775
Pat Keller- 684
Jesse Murphy-654
Jed Selby- 646
Andre Spino-Smith- 640
Josh Matsell- 603
Javid Grubbs- 585
Ted Devo- 582
Andrew Holcombe- 564
Jimmy Blakeney- 538
Sean Brabant- 493
Brian Jennings- 465
Jon Meyers- 453
Corey Volt- 441
Stephen Wright- 439
Marlow Long- 428
Clay Wright- 404
My rides went really well when I was in
the wave. I just got a little excited and hit the rock trying
aerial righty backstab once, then a reverse pan am, then a
simple blunt once. Tomorrow I will do 45 second rides, instead
of 30 second rides and get much bigger scores, at least that
is the plan.
I just got back from the Tommy Gunn concert-
awesome!
