At 8am this morning the first All-Star
was loaded into the mold and the oven heated. At 9am the first
All-Star was born! These are pictures of this boat and its
maiden voyage. I will just get the obvious question out of
the way- “How is it?” Nothing short of a playboating
dream machine! It cartwheels super smooth and easy, it flatwater
loops like a dream, it surfs with speed, carving, and a sweet
pogo stick bounce! It is really easy to paddle, and the bow
and stern stay just clear of the water for “goin’
down the middle” (Clay will be very happy about this).
Oh me, oh my, I can’t tell you how excited I am at this
moment. I have a perma smile that nobody can take away.
Notice the super sexy lines, simple, focused,
and functional. Notice the quality of the molding- near perfect.
Notice the Super Air Loop bow and stern, while maintaining
the low parting line for a slicey shape, bow to stern.
This boat is crazy good. I am going to
be playing like there is no tomorrow in this thing!!!
So, how did the day go?
Pulled the first boat out of the mold,
a first rate mold I must say, but we didn’t put enough
release on the cockpit and it stuck pretty good. This boat
is actually a scrap, but the prettiest, best paddling scrap
I have every had.
Did all of the testing on the boat-
thicknesses, shape, etc. and it came out perfect, except
for the cockpit rim which we had to horse out of the mold.
It will come in at 28 pounds!
Drove it to the plant, and got them
off and running on assembling it- outfitting was ready to
go, thanks to Roger’s Foam.
Went back and got an orange one- same
thing! Now there is a Blue one too!
Got my finished All-Star at the plant-
fits perfectly- (super comfortable!) and went to the hole.
Emily took photos, here they are!
