Emily’s “Build a School”
in Uganda Project - by Emily Jackson
Uganda is a small country in Africa about the
Size of Oregon. Many paddlers travel there each year to experience
high volume kayaking on the Nile. This up-coming winter I would
like to do the same thing only I am doing a project along with it.
The locals in the town where the White Nile rapids are are in need
of school houses for kids to go to school.
My project, Kayakers for Cause, is going to be
held in Uganda. It is going to be based around 10 kayakers, all
of whom I am hoping can raise $5,000 for the project. What I would
like to see happen is, all 10 of us bring the five thousand dollars,
so we have around fifty thousand dollars. With this money, and the
kayakers, I am hoping to build a school house in 2005. The money
will get us supplies and teachers and other important stuff. The
Kayakers will be kayaking, and building the school house. I already
know some people located in Uganda that build school houses. I also
know that I will be able to find 10 kayakers. But the hardest part
is going to be, finding the money. So any donations for this would
help a lot. I am setting up a checking account for “Kayakers
with a Cause”. I will post be taking the donations to “kayakers
with a cause” at this address and making the deposits. We
would really appreciate it. We will list all people who make donations
on this part of the Jackson Kayak website. Thanks! If you want to
see about the land and people of Uganda, get my dad’s videos,
