We have announced the weights of each of our
boats on our website and now in our brochure. They are the lightest
whitewater boats on the market today. They are not actual weights
though. The only way to know just what a Jackson Kayak weighs will
be to put it on a scale. You will be very pleasantly surprised.
I recommend that you take your boat and do a check up on it too.
Like most Americans today, you will likely find that it has not
been honest with you in terms of its actual weight. Don’t
lug around an extra 4, 6, 8, or in many cases 10+ pounds of dead
weight that slows the rate of acceleration, turning, and makes all
playing less enjoyable. Instead, check out how a kayak can be made
with the best materials, innovative outfitting, and some intelligent
engineering to create light, comfortable, durable, and dry kayaks.
Want some specs:
1) Cross linked hulls ranging from 15 pounds
in the Fun 1 to 28 for the Super Fun a. Over 17
places on each hull are checked with an ultrasound to assure that
the thickness is right in each critical place.
b. Each boat
is also checked for total weight after it is trimmed.
2) Extruded, thermoplastic/composite beams ranging from .6 to .9
pounds. Each comes with a 1/32” polypropylene
“no break” overmolding.
3) Happy Feet Footbag - .5 pounds
4) Vertical Foam Walls - .25 pounds- .35 pounds
5) Seat pan - .75 pounds
6) Back band? Haven’t weighed that one yet, sorry. It is a
standard IR rear adjust ratchet backband.
7) Seat- .25 pounds
8 ) Security bars - .15 pounds
So - add that up and it is looking quite easy
on the shoulders! Brian will be putting each hull on the scale,
and there is no tolerance for anything more than +.3 pounds. We
will solve any manufacturing problems with engineering and keep
our hulls at the appropriate weights and wall thicknesses. This
is all fun stuff for me and very exciting. My goal is to show what
a kayak would be like if time and money weren’t a factor.
