National Championships Finals Today at Rock Island!
Octobre 2, 2004
3,600 CFS- raging hole with wave moves down the
middle and on the sides- Awesome for entry moves- and one of the
most beautiful playspots in the world. All of this right here today
as the scene for the final event to determine the national champions
in the Men’s, Women’s, C1, Junior Men, and Junior Women’s
classes! Past national champions Devon Barker and Tanya Shuman will
fight it out with Kristen Podolak who just won the USA Team trials,
and Amy Jimmerson, also on Team USA not far behind.
In the Men’s class I have a commanding
lead with 3 wins (oh yea) and 90 points. The real contest is for
runner up. Stephen Wright, Andrew Holcomb, Brian Kirk, Javid Grubbs,
Clay Wright and more all have a great shot at the silver and bronze.
In the Junior Women’s class- the big contest
is between Hanna Farrar and Emily Jackson both only 5 points apart,
meaning whoever wins this one will win it all. Adrienne hurt her
shoulder on the Green River and is in a sling, so although she is
now in third, she won’t be competing. Ali Wade, still a junior
until December, and the winner of the 2004 International Freestyle
Championships chose to compete in the women’s class. She can
change her mind until 9am this morning.
In the Junior Men’s class- Zack Miller,
Todd Baker, Kevin Dombey, and Justin Patt are all so close that
it is anybodies game. Just behind them is Dane Jackson, Chris Shell,
and Billy Boylan still within striking distance. This will be a
great junior comp!
In the C1 Class- Joe Stumpfel is leading the
charge with a 20 point lead over Seth Chapelle, but if Seth beats
Joe by two places, he will be tied and this is the tie breaker!
Gary Mullins, Glen Warner, Andrew Bell are all in the game for 3rd.
Look for some really cool visors that Kristine
(head of the USFKA) made for the event. Also- time to pay our respects
to the man of Rock Island- Ranger Joe!
