This past summer Hope, my wife, and I sold our house and lived out of our truck with our two chocolate labs Ocoee and Nolichucky. We were on a mission to find a new home! We drove 20,000 miles, visited countless national and state parks, boated bunches of new rivers, and had the best summer ever. When the dust settled we ended up in Reno, NV. Honestly, it was the last place that I thought we would end up. Boy, was I ever wrong. Coming from the south east I thought that Nevada was the desert. This is true for most of the state, but that is not what Reno is. It is set at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and the Truckee river that drains Lake Tahoe runs right through down town. It also has one of the best Whitewater parks that I have seen with another on the way in the next year. Don't forget about California creeking just a short drive away! There is so much boating, skiing, and climbing that the towns new slogan is "Americas Adventure Place."
I was also fortunate enough to continue to work with Jackson Kayak as well. I am heading up a new community building program as well as a variety of other things. Keep your eyes open for some very cool opportunities in you boating community with JK. Cross your fingers for rain/snow, and keep on having fun on the water.
